How To Write a Resume & Cover letter While in Nursing School

While the demand for nurses is high, the competition is intense. It can be very difficult to get noticed when applying for a nursing position. A well-built, easy-to-read resume is essential, and should be accompanied by a cover letter that is sure to get the human resource’s attention. Remember that your cover letter should not be a summary of your resume, but it should be customized to the needs of the specific hospital or what ever type of facility in which you are applying.

Below is a sample resume from a nursing school student with little experience in the medical field. If you do not have any medical experience, then the focus should be on whatever skills you do have. Hospitals are patient and community focused so emphasizing on your community clinicals is key. Also listed is a sample cover letter that is directed towards a nursing position while a student is still attending nursing school.
